Do you remember the prologue to the film "007 Goldeneye", in which Pierce Brosnan made his debut in the role of James Bond (otherwise known as British secret agent 007). For the purpose of the film's story, the scene in which the heroic British agent is flung from a dam with an elastic rope round his feet takes place at an unidentified location in the Russian mountains. But did you know that that the dam was not in some remote place in the middle of Asia but was actually the Verzasca one?! The rehearsals for the big jump took a good two weeks, and, at the end, the stuntman, Wayne Michaels, summonsed up the courage to throw himself into the valley abyss from a height of over 220 metres, establishing a new world record for a terrestrial jump with an elastic rope.
