Tenero is quite a special town in that the surrounding area offers so much. The Verzasca Valley, cool and delightful, is nearby; you can spend a few pleasant hours there, perhaps enjoying lunch in one of the many grottoes, and going for long walks along the hiking paths winding through the lush and beautiful countryside.
