One of the buses serving Tenero is route 1, which links the towns of Ascona, Locarno, Minusio and Tenero.
Throughout the summer, from June to September, there is a free shuttle bus and boat service between Tenero and Locarno, running ten times a day. This connects in Tenero with a free bus service, which runs 33 times a day (but not on Sundays), calling at the campsites, the landing stage, the centre of the town, the tennis courts and the adventure park in Gordola.
The landing stage in Tenero is near the Lido. It is the departure point for the SNLM's free shuttle service between Tenero and Locarno, from where numerous boats depart for all parts of Lake Maggiore, offering a big range of possible excursions.

On most days, trains operated by the Swiss Federal Railways (FFS/SBB) call at the stations of Tenero, Gordola and Riazzino twice an hour. They provide connections with trains to other parts of Ticino (Bellinzona, Lugano, etc.), to the rest of Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva, Basel and so on) and also to other countries (such as Italy and Germany).

Bicycles are available for hire at two shops in Tenero: Erat Sport and Bar Espress. They can be used to discover the innumerable cycle routes in the region around Lake Maggiore.
A cable car runs from just north of Vogorno, in the Verzasca Valley, up to Bardughée. It is of simple design and intended to transport freight or a maximum of four paying passengers at one go. It operates only in the summer months and must be booked in advance.
